Man With Incredibly Powerful Voice Sings in the Subway Where He’s Been Singing for 40 Years

The harmony from the gents on the drums and guitar were spot on.  So much talent on the streets.  Neither talent nor luck are distributed evenly and success in music relies heavily on the latter.

From Mike Yung:

“My name is Mike Yung and I am from Brooklyn.  Thank you for supporting me.  I have found some people who are helping me put out my original songs and my debut album.  I have been in the subway for more than 30 years. I’m still here.

I was signed to RCA when I was 15 years old.  Then I was signed with the help of a Grammy winning producer, Teddy Vann to Etta James’ last label called T-Electric.  The label went bankrupt.  My debut album never came out.  And this is where I’ve called home for the last 40 years of my life.  I hope my music gets me out.

People have been asking how much I make: I make about a hundred bucks a day.  Most we ever made was 400 dollars per person one time.  People carry less and less cash so these days I’m lucky if i make a hundred.  There’s been many times lately I walk away with nothing.  I don’t blame people for not having cash.  Just making them smile is enough.”
